On June 29, 2006, County Executive Tom Suozzi held a press conference with ERASE Racism to announce the introduction of a historic fair housing bill to the Nassau County Legislature. The fair housing bill was a product of a year of collaboration between ERASE Racism’s legislative team and the County Executive and Attorney’s Office. Over 70 people showed up in support of the bill. The room was overflowing with enthusiasm. Legislator David Mejias was present along with many Long Island leaders and community members.
